Summer starts with melons – as a melon enthusiast I hold this dear to my heart. To a child of the tropic, watermelon is THE treat for a hot day. What I remember the most is the sensation of dipping my teeth into a scrumptious, sweet, refreshingly succulent slice of watermelon, which I bought from a street vendor for less than 50 cent, and indulging in an imaginary escape to an unknown island in the Pacific. Now that I have moved to France, watermelon is harder to find and the ripe, luscious ones are often expensive. Yet, to me, it still stands for something magical, playful and tropical. So, to satisfy my cravings, I turn to everything-else watermelon. Am I the only one currently obsessed with watermelon pattern?
